ok, Heres my dilemma. I have two CT 26's one of them has no shaft play but the compressor wheel is all chipped up. The other one has quite a bit of shaft play but the compressor wheel is in perfect condition.. What I am wondering is if I can take the compressor wheel off the bad turbo and put it on my good turbo without having it all balanced.. Aren't the compressor wheels and turbine wheel/shaft independently balanced? I don't see how they could be balanced as a whole as there is no keyway on the compressor wheel for it to not rotate on when putting it together.

So turbo experts tell me what you think..

Thanks

Thought I would follow up on this post.. I got my car running with the compressor wheel swapped and it worked! Smooth as can be, Nice spool sound and hits boost hard! We tuned it today on 9 lbs boost and it made 219WHP 208WTQ

This is on a NA Block, Pistons, and cams.. Running GTE Electronics, 440CC injectors and intake manifold along with all AN lines for the turbo feed and drain! Glad it worked :)
