So the supras all back together no fuel leaks has all proper fluids everything is hooked up except EGR *blocked off* and cruise control is cut out. She turns over but it wont continue to fire my friend and i think its the distributor he said theres a certain way that it goes in but hes not sure for my particular engine any trouble shooting ideas?

he was talking about it being 180 degrees over but he wasnt sure on a Toyota engine so he said to ask you guys

You have to verify all your timing marks with the rotor pointing at #1 plug wire and #1 piston at TDC.

Thank you But my question was more so of how do i know the distrubtor is exactly where it needs to be Re ther also notches or teeth on it?

The link I gave you has that info, you have to have the crank mark on the "0", cam gear marks on the hash marks, #1 piston at TDC, and with the distribtor cap off, the rotor should be pointing at the #1 plug wire, like about 2 o'clock, if it's not then you have to pull the distributor out and rotate the rotor a little and set it back in.
Then you time it with a light, the above will get you started provide nothing else is wrong.
