turbo on 7mge vs 7mgte

hey I was just wondering if its possible to put a turbo on the 1986.5
n/a model, also i was wondering if i should just go with the 7mgte swap,
your advice is greatly appreciated so let me know what you think.

depends on your budget, mechanical skills, and source of parts...

there are not many differences between the 7MGE and 7MGTE, heads and blocks are nearly identical, just a couple of sensors, and extra parts here and there, and of course pistons are different. If you have a turbo parts car you can go 1/2 Na-T and use the manifold, electronics, turbo, etc.

or you can just swap out the entire engine, which is what I did in my 89. However, to avoid any headaches and lots of weird stuff, make sure you get an 87/88 turbo car's harness, because 89+ are different and many plugs are different. It can be made to work, but it's easier to find a pre 89..
