The automatic trans from my 87 supra 7mgte, can't shift itself. I got to shift it myself and the transmission work pretty well. But the overdrive don't work. So what do you think the problem is ? and what about the cost of this repair. Thank you
sounds like a valvebody problem, but could also be a controller issue. used trannies are pretty cheap(3-500$) on ebay and the forums. pull the codes, check the fluid levels/condition. go from there
the tsrm is your friend!
If the shift pattern goes L- First gear, 2 - Third gear, D - Overdrive. Then you have nothing controlling the solenoids. I had to shift this way before hooking up the SSv4.
Ok thanks for the TSRM link. It will help me! I'm going MT as soon as i get a one piece driveshaft that would fit. So I don't know what i'm going to do with the AT. Sold it as broken(or little repair), let it in the back of my garage or maybe repair it someday.
I had similar issue after my car sat for a while. I Found that the problem I was having was corrosion in the connectors to the transmission. A little electronics parts cleaner fixed the problem.
