I have alot of oil blow by on my original 100,000 mile turbo, so it's time to upgrade it. I was wondering with if I upgraded the trim size if it's mandatory to get a tune. Will it run like shit if I don't tune it?

An upgraded trim will have different flow characteristic then a stock CT in boost. Tuning is a must If you don't want to run into problems. This has been beaten to death on... search and you will find that fuel is a must and maintenance.

consider a WBo2 part of the upgrade for safety. Even then its only going to tell you what you need to know and not allow you to adjust it. (think afpr, safc etc... needed..)

Short answer, depends. Stock boost levels, no. All the way up to fuel cut, no. Any higher YES.p

Exactly right there.

If you run with a cat in your exhaust system and stock intercooler, you shouldn't have a problem with even getting to fuel cut point really with anything 57-trim or smaller. If you start trying to turn up the boost with a boost controller and want more than 10-11psi, then you're going to need to be investing some money in fuel mods/electronics. Depending on the air density (elevation/temperature) I've hit fuel cut as early as 10.5psi and as late as 12.5psi on my own car.
