timing problem

hey guys i just replaced my hg on my 90 7mge i had the head shaved 25 thousands off. now i cant get it to run right. the timing is set at 30 degrees and thats were it runs but it lacks alot of power. and when i put it at 10 degrees where its supposed to be it runs even worse. any ideas? thanks in advance

Make sure your cam timing is on, TDC on cyl 1 make sure the timing marks on the cam gears are both pointing straight up. And the timing mark on the crank pulley is at 0 (this will get you TDC on cyl 1) 30 degree's sounds to far advanced... The first cam lobes on cyl 1 should point away from each other at TDC as well.

Devin are u saying that your exhaust cam gear marking is like one tooth to the left of the marking on the back plate and your intake cam gear is one tooth to the right of your back plate marking. just making sure i understand u right thats what your pic looks like. every other thing told me to line up the markings but maybe your right. and i have the stock head gasket
