The belt was replace 12-16-97 at 58961 mi.
It now has 10300 mi on it.
The belt looks good.
Does the belt wear out over time, 10 years or is it just mileage?

around 60k miles is normal for all timming belts.. 10 years old is def old enough you should change with as many miles on it.. If it breaks the only hassle is getting towed...... as its a noninterferance motor....so you wont damage it.. now if it breaks doing7000 rpm ya might bend something

P/S might as well replace all the seals up front while you are at it... not lot more work or money..

i would buy a timing belt kit, and wait for it to snap one day... i re-used the one that was on my black supra. it runs fine... and its not like its very hard to get too.

Push a piece of coal up your bum and wait 1000 years and you'll get a Diamond ;) (man you're so tight sometimes)

If it's in any way in doubt just replace it it's not like the Belt is expensive compared to a tow when it does break.

Redacted per Title 18 USC Section 798
Timing belts of the era were rated at 60K. Modern belts are rated at 105K. That all assumes they're tensioned correctly and kept clean. That said my original 60K Toyota belt went 104K and 13 years. It was still holding up at that point (when I decided to overhaul the engine) but was clearly tired.

take the belt off and flip it inside out and fold it backwards

you might as well replace it while you're in there...
