Ok I have big plans for my 7m. Is this a bad idea I'm lookin to get 500 hp out of it. Is this possible. If not should i not even waste all my money and just invest in a 2gz? That's my question.

yeah dude go 2gz. its the shit

jk, and idk if it was a typo or not but its a 2jz not 2gz. and a 7m if propery built and tuned you can go far. dont half ass the build. i have probe pistons, eagle rods, fuel system, exhaust, he351, yada yada, tuning with a maft pro and i should be at ~500hp. i daily drive it and it works fine.

7M's make more torque than 2J's... Horse Power wins show's, Torque wins races. 7M's easily make 500rwhp just dont cheap out and do it right. Search on here on building your motor so you wont be crying later on about needlessly spending money on your 7M. "99 out of 100 times the problem with the 7M is the owner and not the motor..."

A built shortblock on a 7m will handle 500 easy even with MAFT pro or Map ecu piggybacks.
Alot of people have 500hp 7m's so its not rare or a bad idea.

I would prefer a built 7m over a stock 2jz. It would be about the same cost to get 500hp with a 2jz swap as a built 7m.
You can get 500 crank hp out of a stock blocked 7m but thats pushing it unless the tune is perfect.

I would have went with the 2J had I known then what I know now. I am just to far along to change now. For the 10G I have in the 7M now I could have had the same in the 2J with more potential. Overall Im happy and expect to be close to 600hp. Maybe when im done i can build a 2J and put this 7M in my 4X4 yota. That would be a BEAST.

theres a guy with a 7m in australia i think that makes over 1300 hp. So yes 500 hp can be made as long as you do it right a halfass motor will run halfass
