Edited to add: No CEL's at all, clean codes even when this happens. Hope that'll help with a possible diagnosis.
First up, kind of an odd situation, but I've noticed that no matter what speed I'm cruising at if I come off the gas even a hair (frog hair, not buffalo hair) my '88 acts like I've come off the gas completely. Doesn't die, but it sheds speed pretty quickly and gets aggravating.
Next problem is that sometimes while I'm at cruise (40+ mph) it feels like it backs off the gas all by itself then comes back again. It doesn't back down as much as when I actually ease up on the pedal, but enough to definately be noticable. To get an idea of what I'm talking about, think about the reverse of your engine surging every so often and then backing off. And this happens at cruise, not when I'm really boosting or accelerating.
Anybody have any thoughts on what might be causing these two problems? What's the likelyhood of them being related? TIA.
