that tire is ranked 23 in its class... pretty low...

General - UHP Exclaim (4)
Kumoh - ASX (10)

love em both.

I'll NEVER own falken tires, i could spin my rims that had 235 falkens like they were covered in oil... my 225 kumoh grabbed better....

I hate ES100's. Really loud ,low tread wear, and it doesn't grip as well as other tires in the same price range.

ZE-912 are alright but I hate that they are inside / outside tire and not directional.

I have these on the rear on my Soarer and they actually aren't that bad. The General UHP Exclaim that Rennat mentioned are also decent. Those I have on the front of the car.

I ran those on my old car. The wet traction was less than you would expect, otherwise they were good tires.

Also, I have ES100's on the front of my current car and they are definitely too loud.

Tom, when I buy new tires later this year I am buying Kumho Ecsta MX's. They are as sticky as the KD's I have and are considerably cheaper. Not sure if you are looking for something this soft though.

Jamie, thanks for the suggestion, it is just with me trying to choose a weird size (245/50/16) it is hard to find something good. And i am not shelling out for the cost of the michelin pilot's i found in those sizes (just under 300 a tire)

ran them as a 315 on my 03 cobra for awile (till the car was stolen)

they worked great for what I bought them for (low cost tire that would hold decent traction)

in the 3k miles i put on the car i almost burned thru the set of tires, and thats without droping the clutch burnouts.

that being said it would roast the tires in first and second gear anyways and a bit in 3rd.

I have the HTR ZII's on my car 255/275's. Handling/cornering is real good but at 10+psi I have no traction thru 1st and 2nd. I never drove them in the rain but dont expect them to be good at all. Their super quiet and treadwear seems to be fairly good.

cheap tires are cheap tires, if its just price youre going on, youre not going to get anything very good. If youre looking for an ultra high performance summer, in the 90-125 range, stick with 225/50r16 and grab the bridgestone re01r's. They wont last long but theyre super sticky and will hold better than any cheap 245/50r16.

From both experience and research, going wider than 225 on a 7" wheel is just bulging the tire and making extra roll in turns. Im gonna burn up the 245's i have on the back of my car as quick as i can so i can have an excuse to either go back to the right size or get bigger wheels.

Also, the bridgestone potenza re750 sport is bridgestones latest ultra high performance summer tire and its supposed to be one of the better wearing uhp tires out there at a very reasonable price.I put them on a customers car recently (245/40r18) and he RAVED about the grip. I can guarantee better results out of a better 225 than a cheap 245. not to mention since 225/50r16 is a more common size than 245/40, the 225's will have more to offer and be better tires for the buck. Just .02 from someone who sells tires for a living. hope it helps. PM me if youd like further advice or info.
