EDIT: Most recent pic

Ok time for me to start one of these. As you can see im another Australian, but my girlfriend was born and bred in Chicago - its actually quite convinient for getting stuff shipped to her parents' place, but dont tell her I said that!:naughty:

Anyway, ive just acquired my 4th consecutive Supra (this being my third A70). Here was my last JZA70 R...

p1457634_2.jpg

was a great car, loved it to death but sold it on a whim when someone offered me good money and didnt look back.

led me onto this... Series 2 JZA80 RZ
p1457634_3.jpg

great car, nice and new, reliable, big step up from the JZA70 but too much money tied up and to be frank, lacking the "feel" of the A70 - the A70 is a FAR cooler car, even though its not as advanced. Anyhow, sold this 2 months ago.

And bought this...(this is what the build-up thread is haha)

Compliance plate says it a 1990 but its the non-update (so maybe its an '89?) JDM MA70 Limited with a manual 1JZ conversion (R154) out of a JZA70 front cut. Obviously not as original as my ol' JZA70 R but it has some worthy mods and fresh paint, which are the reasons I picked it up. Has a whole range of annoying little shit which needs rectifying soon before I can be happy enough to drive it but it will be a work in progress.

Updated modifications list:

Engine and Transmission
1JZ GTE
ATI Crank Damper
Lightened pulley kit
HKS adjustable cam gears
HKS fine tune timing belt
R154 Transmission
C's short shifter
TRD 3 puck clutch

Fuel and Electronics
Autronic SM4 standalone ECU
Bosch 040 external fuel pump custom mounted in-tank
2JZ 440cc injectors

Intake and Exhaust
Aftermarket airfilter
HKS intake pipe
Stainless steel twin dump pipes
Race pipe
Blitz Nur Spec cat back

Cooling
FMIC with custom alloy pipework
JAR alloy tripple core radiator
Retro-spec carbon fibre radiator support cooling panel

Suspension and Brakes
HSD damper and height adjustable coilovers (14kg F/12kg R)
Energy Suspension polyurethane upper/lower front control arm bushes
Cusco carbon fibre front and rear strut braces
KTS rear hatch brace
Arizona Performance Wilwood 4 piston brake upgrade

Exterior
Full respray in Ford Ego (metallic gun metal grey)
Genuine Turbo-A duct (not currently fitted)
Colour coded exterior mouldings
JZA70 vented front lip
Aus delivery half amber/half clear front turn signals
Aus delivery fog lights
Aftermarket projector headlamps
18x9 & 10 Lenso D1R wheels (satin black)

Interior
Recaro SR3 front seats
TRD gear shift knob
Personal steering wheel
Back seat removed
Blitz 300 km/h Speedometer
Analouge JZA70 dash

Goals:
I always dreamed of taking my JZA70 R to the race track to see what lap times it could do, but I never got the chance as there was too much stuff to fix. My RZ (being a much more sound car) was up to the task and as a result, I am now hooked on circuit driving, there is nothing more thrilling to do in a car IMHO). So, my goal for this car is the initially finish off the exterior to get it looking the part and then get going on the suspension and cooling to make it reliable at the race-track.

Still to do before heading to the race track!
Fit oil cooler
Fit power steering cooler DONE
Fit new tyres front and rear (Kumho KU36) DONE
Upgrade rear brakes DONE
Re-wire with Autronic SM4 DONE

Thanks for reading!

btw todd would roll in his grave if the twat saw u said "jza70" lmao but i love it :D
bahaha, well the chassis obviously says MA70 (actually wait, its a green plate import so it has had a new number stamped onto the chassis) - so technically its not an MA70 or a JZA70 - its a 6VBLM950 or whatever random number the new vin is.

but yer, JZA70 is easier to type than MA70 with 1JZ GTE conversion.

Ahhh. now it makes sense as to why you sold the RZ
It was a very nice car, but it's good to know you got another supra and a very clean one at that.

so true Andrew, A70s are much harder than 80s (much older, less aftermarket support etc) but the fact that you are driving soemthing that is more unique, is to me, a rewarding feeling.

OK, gave it a wash this morning as it had some small birdshit stains on it and i didnt want to store it away for 6 weeks in dirt and dust. paint comes up REAL nice when its clean. you'll have to excuse the poor lighting of the pics, it has no plates atm so i cant drive it anywhere to get some more open images and unfortunately the house blocks out a fair chunk of the light! You get the idea though...

im actually really happy with the fitment as I was a little uncertain as to how they would go on the A70. Obviously the guards will need to be rolled but once I get some coilovers in there and drop it an inch or so they should camber in quite well. And im not skimping on tyre either - there is basically NO stretch on these (which i like). looks 4x4 spec atm but ive got a factory front lip that its crying out for too.

Nice to see another A70, do you know where the JZA70R ended up? I have to stop visiting these forums, urge to spend more money is increasing...

haha single is still a little while away on this dan, got lotsa shit to fix up/put back together properly first, but its on the cards...maybe in 12 months time.

xsjado, i sold my R to a guy called james (he's on toymods), lives in a mining town 4 hours north/west of Adelaide. havent seen it since I sold it but have been in touch with him and he reports that all is well and good with it.

looks like the A70 scene in SA is starting to come back to life again.

Car looks good Simon, has alot of potential and only really needs a little TLC, all the hard and expensive stuff is done so it definately was a good buy

arr very nice :)

damn i thought you had given the old A70 the boot and went all A80 on us lol.

good to see youve picked up another A70. the body looks fairly clean and seems like you got your self a great car over all.

by the way i noticed your 3.0 GT limited doesnt have a digital dash. i thought they all came with the digital?

The wheels are lenso d1r 18x10 and 18x9 in pretty agressive offsets. I absolutely love them a) because not too many people run them on supras and b) they were dirt cheap compared to say work emotion which is also CAD.

Ma70r, previous owner swapped in the analouge dash from the jza70 front cut and boy am I glad...don't care for the digi too much.
