I have my turbo off and I was wondering should I go ahead and shim my oil filter relief valve. Will it hurt to shim the oil filter relief valve and not shim the oil pump. What will it do if you do one and not the other. Need some input.

I come from a land down under
Both or none

Personally I'd shim the Oil pump and convert to a full flow cooler with a T Stat, pressure based just isn't the way to go as the cooler is active at all the wrong times.. i.e. When the Oil is cold/thick and the cooler isn't needed it'll be wide open, then when the oil is hot/thin and pressure drops the cooler closes just as it's needed...

Had to deal with that pileOjunk back in the 80's when I built the 240z/Toyota V8 combo and have been upgrading to a full flow system ever since.

Good deal. It is real easy to get to while the turbo is off. Where could I start getting my stuff at. I mean a retailer.

Does anyone know much/have any experience with the greddy thermostat units? They seem convenient because the thermostat is built in to the housings. Heres two examples

This one just needs a filter adapter, lines, and a cooler, seems kind of handy for a clean setup.

Haven't taken a close look, but if the filter is easy enough to get to mounted right on the block with a sandwich plate, this would make it even easier. Just have to run lines to/from the cooler and that's it.

Any thoughts on these? Never seen anyone on here use them.
