I wouldn't touch one of these cheapo gasket kits with a 10' pole, but that's just me. I don't like rebuilding engines twice.

Which do you prefer SC, Fel-pro or Toyota gasket kit?

I'm a pretty big fan of "genuine Toyota" for a lot of components on our cars, the gasket set being one of them. The quality level of the Toyota brand parts is impressive, and more importantly consistent. Time and time again I've gotten the same quality and results when using them.

For a rebuild before I start I always make sure I have:

Full Toyota Gasket Set
Metal Headgasket (HKS)
ARP Studs
Greddy Timing Belt
A tube of FIPG
Full set of new belts & hoses
New Toyota brand thermostat
Toyota Red Coolant

I always replace the water pump, the oil pump and the timing belt idler pulley as well. No sense it having to try to fix any of those in the near future.

This is just what I like to do, I'm not saying it's the only way. But by using very good stuff, replacing everything that wears out and using good quality items, you ensure that you don't have to touch the motor again. I hate having to repair something more than once.
