Rebuilt Engine Question

I've finally decided to buy a rebuilt engine and I was going to take a chance on Jasper, but I came across this website Importperformanceparts.net and they have what seems like a good deal on a rebuilt engine. Have any of you guys dealt with this dealer? Thanks.

I had them assemble a complete stroker short block without any issues and it works just dandy

Adjusters stroker short block didn't come out so well and got double or triple charged on his CC. Then Flatlander wasn't playing nice with adjuster but he got his money back finally.

So 1 good and 1 bad.

btw Toga is a rebadged Aisin oil pump.

I suggest finding someone local to you, someone you trust. You're going to drop some decent coinage for shipping. At least $150 to have the block sent to you, most definitely more if you have to send one in for a core. Also, I suggest buying all the major parts your self for two reasons. First, I like to se exactly what is going in my motor. Second, almost everyone charges you double what they paid for the parts, and don't think they're going to shop around for the lowest price, either.

My shortblock that's being built is running my a tad over $1000. I found brans new JE pistons mounted on shot peened stock rods w/ new ARP bolts on Ebay for $412 shipped. My machinist is charging me $600 for all the machine work, dynamic balancing (within 1/4 gram), clevite bearings & assembly. I figure I can find a new oil pump for $130 or so, so that will bring my total up to $1150.

I want to go this route in the first place, but oddly enough finding a good machinist in No. VA is proving harder than I originally thought. Thanks for the info.

there was another guy with a n/a-t that went with jasper, he bought a reman motor with a cracked crank?!?!? wtf was that all about. go elsewhere

You will be better off finding a good local shop to do the job, that way everything gets cleaned and inspected before assembly, fortunately for me i have a friend who is the machinist at a local Napa, i just picked up my short block and head, I have to assemble the rest, i help him out with something of his own, all it cost me was parts.
