Re-installing the cam gears, new timing belt, timing the 1jz.

Does anyone know of a thread that tells you how position the cams and time the 1jz? I'm in the process of putting my motor back together and this is my next task.

Do I just put the cam gears on, then position the cams with the mark facing straight up and put cylinder #1 at TDC?

This may seem like a numskull question to most, but if you are re-using a timing belt, why do you have to place matchmarks on the timing belt and camshaft timing pulleys? Every part of the belt will eventually pass the same points on the pulleys right? I must be missing something very basic.

not sure he did sayhe was putting the motor back together so maybe he had everything removed??? just a guess.
