I don't know a whole lot about our transmissions. I'm sure most of you already know the answer to these questions...

What is the difference between the R154 and the W58? Which one is better? Where do they come from?

I ask because there have been a few new threads started to include my own about the R154's strength and I'ts bugging me not really knowing the difference between the R154 and the W58.

I thought that the R154 came off of the 1J motor and the W58 came off of the 7M. Is this correct?

Well I'm glad I have an R154! So as it stands, the R154 is much better. Cool. I feel enlightened.

I'm actually enjoying my R154. I have the marlin crawler shifter seat and socket and it make a huge difference. I'd have to agree it's for more aggresive driving compared to the W58. But, it is very tight shifting and goes into gear great. I'm also using the Redline tranny fluid.

Yes the R154 comes with the 1JZ but its kinda rickety when shifting the only downside.

how is it rickety? I've heard that word only used when I was watching a western movie, and they had wagons involved.
