quick hdr

thanks for the heads up using CS3 for hdrs just started working with that and i'm liking it. looks a bit more realistic than photomatix.

I'm using CS2 for now, and I don't use the HDR import thingy it has. I've tried to play with it, but, I don't understand aperature and exposure all that much. I just know what I do in Photoshop works using image filters, levels, overlays, etc (oh and the burn tool is great )

that's more of what i've got to get into. i'd love to get the tools down, i barely know how to use any of it. sad that it's going to waste (i'm trying to watch/follow tutorials in my downtime)

The reason they are turning out like shit... is because the light is even in that picture. There is no point in under or over exposing it if you are not gaining detail by doing so. Take picture somewhere with multiple levels of lighting. Thats the point of an HDR, to get detail and have a picture where everything is at the exposure level it should be.

I've been Photoshopping for like... um, 7 years or so I'd guess, and I still am fairly newbish. I have read very FEW tutorials. Ive basically learned what I know 98% of it) by just messing around and many hours of it. It takes time, but it'll come to ya

I use photomatix to make mine, and so does a friend. I think it works really well. Here's one he took yesterday.

I checked, and that website is correct (not that I doubted it) on the exposure range on the Canons. I find that really odd that it is so limited. On the other hand, these HDRs were taken by a friend's friend (bracketing with 3-4 exposures each). They aren't that great, but it's doable.
