PT72 - Choosing a fuel setup

So I just pulled the trigger on a PT72GTQ with a .68 A/R on the hot side (I know, .68 is quite small for this turbo but I'm going to try it out anyway. I may try on a .81 later). I'm still running on stock fuel so that will be upgraded once I get the turbo on. The question I have, what would you all recommend in terms of fuel for this turbo running high boost at 26-28 PSI on C16? My RWHP goal is in the 700-800 range. Would 8XXcc injectors be enough? There is a guy locally that's selling some 1000cc injectors and I'm considering them. I'm also looking at adding a meth injection kit but not right away.

Here is my setup:

MAP ECU 1
OBD-II Stock ECU
AVC-R
Greddy 4Row
Greddy T/T 3" Exhaust
Will be running a 3.5" DP/MP
Crower 272 Cams
Upgraded Springs/Retainers
Built motor Crower rods & JE pistons

Thanks for any help or advice you can provide!

i wouldn't go less than 880cc injectors..

but why not be safe and get the 1000cc injectors..
if you ever upgrade a little, you won't have to worry about the injectors again

I would also recommend 1000cc as theres plently of headroom in your setup if you go on the quest for more power, 850cc will see the 700-800hp range.
have a look at the PHR stage 3 fuel system for an idea on what you will need.
I would also be heading AEM, Autronic etc etc for management.

Yea, that is true about being safe and having the ability to go with a larger turbo if I decide to go with a different setup. I'll go ahead and get the 1000cc injectors. Thanks for the advice, guys.

Seen a lot of guys running dual pumps. What do you all think? I've got a -8 fuel rail on the way. How high will the stock pump take me running 1000cc injectors?

The stock pump is just a 255. I personally would ditch the stock pump, sump the tank and run an external.

I would also try and get your hands on an HKS DLI or something simalar. You will be blowing out spark.

for 700-800 rwhp, definitely go with a double pump. the stock mkiv pump is good to about 550 rwhp, even with 1000cc injectors youll be running a higher than normal duty cycle on them with the stock mkiv pump, the larger feedline will help as well.

personally i have ran 720cc injectors on the stock mkiv pump and stock fuel lines and according to the AEM, they were spiking about 92% duty cycle @ 19psi making 527 rwhp on T04Z, for daily driving i have it at 15-16psi and the duty cycle on the injectors is safe at 75% now

i also agree on some kind of DLI, the HKS one works well so far for me..... ive been told the AEM one is garbage.

Thanks for all the input, guys. After much thought, I've decided to go with the following setup:

-1000cc injectors
-Dual Denso pumps (unswitched, running full time)
-Y-block in the tank
-8 AN from the tank to -8 AN inline fuel filter
-8 AN from fuel filter to -8 AN fuel rail
-Areomotive FPR
-Stock return
-MAP ECU for fuel control

This should allow me to get to 7-800 rwhp faily easy and allow room for growth if I want to get closer to 1000 rwhp (although I'll probably go with a dual feed rail splitting my -8 AN to 2 -6 AN feeds after the filter and a center return if I go that route).

don't forget - if one of two pumps fail - you'll surely get a problem. Maybe SARD or WALBRO pump and 3.5kg with SARD fuel pressure regulator?

I have been considering upgrading to the MAP ECU 2. There are a lot of features that I like in addition to the timing control (Launch control for example once I go 5 spd). If a deal comes around, I'll likely upgrade to it.

Well, the thing is, with 1000cc injectors and an ecu tuned for 440s or 550s, your timing will be all sorts of whacked out.

mkiv tanks are plastic, cant sump them like mkiiis.. go dual internal pumps..
