After searches and reading the hdg thickness sticky, cant seem to find an answer to a simple question. What is the minimum safest head to block (squash) clearance for na motor? 7m Have a block decked .014" and the piston is above the block by this amount, so I ass-ume the stock has 0 deck height. My old hg is .048"(1.22mm) but I read the stock hg is .054(1.37mm) compressed. At .014 with .048 hg I would have only .034" clearance. If the 1.37 is correct it would be .040. My new gasket is .060". Is safe to assume it will crush to .054(1.37mm)? Different topic but thought worth passing on. Have jis pistons and found one of exhaust pockets (front one)was not big enough radially so the valve hit the top of the piston instead of in the pocket. Always amazed what can bite you in the butt. Apppreciate any experiance you can share.
