I am starting to assemble my motor and after the rebuild (rod knock) with all kinds of forged goodies. And I was reading that the Group A's use the heavy N/A block with out the oil squirters because they used forged pistons an they were not needed. I believe my rod Knock was caused by 3 of the oil squirters being stuck open. So my question is can I just block them off, and if so should I shim the new oil pump still or just leave it alone. I checked with the dealer and the new bolts for the squirters are over $12 ea and there are not anymore in the states so it would be at least a couple weeks before the could be in from japan?

from japan usually takes a week (unless of course it goes to the wrong place)

The Group A cars had completely different oiling systems. Getting rid of the pressure based oil cooling circuit would be the best thing you could do for your car. The oil quirters are fine, as they're for durability and cooling...

Replace them with new. Use good oil. Run the right filter.

I run Royal Purple 5w-30 in all of our cars with Purolator PureOne filters.

We go about 8,000 mile on an oil change with normal street driving.

I change the oil after EVERY track event.

Our oil is tested by BlackStone Laboratories after each change.

Our motors last hundreds of thousands of miles, even with track driving.

(And all of our turbo motors have squirters.)

My 1,2000 + RWHP drag car had squirters:
