Oil pressure question!!!

at a stop the oil pressure lowers to the line below the 40lb mark and taking off raises to 40lbs. but then lowers back down to the line just below 40lbs???

whats wrong??

Is the line below the 40lb is 20lbs?

Yeah...that line is 20 lbs. That's kinda high for a stock set-up at idle...normally it's about 5 lbs or so.
Did you shim the oil pump? What wt oil are you running?

I haven't shimmed the oil pump. Don't know the wt of the oil off hand. Higher oil pressure isn't that bad is it? I don't know everything there is about oil.

Well, high pressure on a stock system can indicate a restriction...not good. Could be your oil filter if it is not a bypass type or if the bypass failed.

Do a search on oil here...more than you ever wanted to know Filter wise, if you're using a Fram, it's a piece of crap. Pure One or Wix is the way to go.
