i have always wondered.....how exactly does the stock oil pressure sending unit work? I just see a little tin dome looking thing, no wires, no lines, no nothing, just screwed into the side of the block, it truly puzzles me how it works.....i have an oil filter relocation kit with an rx7 cooler, and have already used one of the holes in the block for a separate oil feed, so how do i hook up an aftermarket oil pressure gauge?
Feedback is much appreciated, thanks

The little metal dome you see SHOULD have a wire coming off of the top post for input to the ecu. Without that, its useless. There are a couple other ports you can use for an after market gauge, or you can use the spot of the stock sender. Just remember you need a 1/8 male bpt to 1/8 female npt fitting converter for most after market gauges.

o okay, well, the engine is on the stand and the unit has no socket or anyting, just a small protruding shaft with a little round piece at the top, thats why i ask, and i've seen plenty of mech oil gauges in car and leak free....a leak test first perhaps?
