Hi Guys,

Just wondering if anyone out there might be able to shed some light.

My 88 7mGTE (later block, 7m crank) mk3 has its oil cooler hoses blocked off for some reason, ive just rebuilt the motor and want to cool the oil.

now ive been told you cant use a Automatic transmission cooler as a Engine oil cooler due to the size of the passages, i don't see how this is important as currently blocked off there is no oil flow anyway. Sure transmission fluid is thinner than engine oil But can anyone give me any other reasons why its not a good idea?

Anyway id like some opinions as i have a 30cm x 20xm "radiator" style transmission cooler and am considering using that.

But, but...he was told there is ;)

OP: Even if it were true you'd be surprised how much hot oil can flow through small passages. After leaving the filter all the oil going to my engine goes through the equivalent of a 1/4" hole. Been that way for years...
