i was wondering if it mattered what year i get a heater control value from, mine went out and i have a 89 and i was wondering if only a 89 hcv will work or anyone from any year ? thankz guys

It's the same for all the years. But it's the electronic vacuum solenoid that craps out on these things, not the actual valve assembly.

Route the hose so it goes directly into the heater control valve (bell shaped thing), bypassing the electronic solenoid.

Disconnect the end of the 88690D hose from the solenoid 88691B and plug it into the check valve 88684-22010. Enjoy the heat.

Mine started leaking, so that is another failure mechanism. I have a spare VSV that I could part with. Send me a PM if interested.
I'm on my 3rd Heater control Amplifier in the Climate Control..
Same symptoms as a dead VSV but will give heat for a minute or two then drops back to full cold.

oh thankz for the info shawndude helps a great deal and saved me some money haha ;^) but yea mine is just cold, does not blow hot at all =^( but i will let you guys know what happens and thankz again.

Just remove the HCV all together. Get a hose coupler and 2 hose clamps couple the 2 hoses on the HCV and tighten. Viola!
sorry i dont know anything about the heating system, what do i hold open and how do i hold it open ?
well i tried it and i think i need a new heater control value because it did not work, well anyway would any year heater control value work for my car? thankz for the info
