After sorting out most of my wire harness and extending it I noticed that the plug that the o2 sensor plugs into has a broken wire, well my question is there are three wires the one that's broken is the insulated signal wire. Does just the inner part of the wire need to be reconnected or is the outter insulator wire need to be connected too to properly work like on say a shielded RCA cable??

not sure where the rest of the brown outer wire is??

If the wire was insulated I will use an insulated wire. I dont believe it works like a rca jack wire. They sell insulated wires search for them on google.

Inner wire is the signal.
Outer wire is just to shield it. Should be ok with just the inner wire reconnected.

I had the same problem. My wire was really brittle, but I was able to solder and heatshrink just the inner signal wire. Code 21 went away.
thanks man, thats very helpful as i can't test it right now, exactly what i was looking for
