Those of you with Nextel radios, I would like to address a concern of mine:

Is it safe to put the radio/phone in the glove box so close to the ecu? I remember reading in the owner's manual that Toyota does not recommend putting a CB radio in the glove box due to possible interference with the ECU.

I have a 12v power plug in my glovebox for my phone charger, and I never really thought about it when I was with Sprint. But now that I'm with Nextel and am noticing interference at home, I wonder if it's a valid concern?

The reason I ask is because when I put my phone down on my desk, it causes severe interference with my monitor--this occurs if the phone is within 2 feet of the monitor. I know the phone is much closer to the ECU when it's in the glovebox charging.

So...Is this a valid concern? Or am I worrying for no reason? I know I should just turn it off when I put it in there, but freaking...It takes so long to come back on, and calls get missed and don't get logged while it's off.
