Ive got a new job now. I resigned from my gold refinery position (refining gold from 99.99 to 99.999% or 5N as is 5 nines) to a position as trainee cementer working for a company called BJ Services. (pls no blowjob jokes :icon_razz ) Head office is located in Houston TX

Today was my 3rd day (started monday) and the rig were working on has a v8 detroit desil with a supercharger mounted on top. It drives some pumps and basically what i'll be learning is how to run the machine and maintain them. My first posting will be in Papua New Guinea. Yes in the middle of the jungle :evil2:

That is where i think i will end up. The camp is much bigger than in the pic due to the pic being taken last year.
Ive heard all sorts of horror stories about papua but I think it will be a experience and a half. I have to fly from Perth to Brisbane (west coast of aust to east coast) then to Port Morsby then charter plane and maybe a helo flight too.
I leave sunday at midnight. I'll be going for 28days give or take. Got my injections and malaria pills. Just need to pack my bags (2 small duffle bags 10kg each for the helo)

Cheers fellas, I'll be doing what the other Ex Pats do once im at the camp, I'll be pretty much picked up and escorted to the hotel and then picked up in the morning and dropped off to the airport to fly to the camp or a airstrip.
on my way back ive got a flight from Port Morsby to cairns then to melb for 3hrs then perth.

and as for the flight of the phoenix that was a remake of a old movie and ive only seen the origional. They survived in the end. :biglaugh:

yeah, they did.. but was the origional based on how they were all people drilling for oil and the company did lay offs and they got stranded?

Be careful man, stay safe but most of all have a good time :)
