i fixed the breakup it was spark blowout i changed the plugs and gap them down. car pulls like a monster now! time to take off alberts reliable ct26 60-1 and make some real power........ we we're just testing the limits of he's ct26 60-1.

Now that you fixed it, and it pulls like monster now why not make a couple of passes down the strip? I for one would to run one of these upgraded ct26's. Especially if you can draw that much power out of them. Dyno numbers are pretty, but dragstrip numbers turn me on. But, it's your car.

Agree...

Would be nice to see what a ct-26 at his power lever can do.

What is the record for a CT26 based turbo at the strip? From the top of my head its a high 11 I think? Would love to see a CT26 based car trap at 120+

There is a 77 Celica in the other cars section that you may be interested in... he has since swapped to a Holset (IIRC), but he was making some impressive times on the CT.

My yamaha 450 grizzly probably weighs almost as much as that car. I wonder if a street driven mk3 will ever trap 120+ with the ct..

Do it like the domestic guys: high compression and high final drive gearing. Should be easy enough (said, maybe not done). :)

I went 11.5 @ 121 with a 57 trim CT26 from driftmotion on 18 lbs. Full weight other than the spare tire. A/C, everything, I had a 10 inch sub in the back too. Final weight was 3780 with me in the car. I wish I had a 60-1 to run I bet it would have done 11.20's at about 124 ish. The night before that run the car made 404WHP 405ft lbs of torque.

Hmm.. 10.5:1 compression with a 60-1 ct26.. I'd be driving like this:eek3dance so I can watch for flying parts.
All in the tune sir... Miata engines are 10:1 and run boost too. VW direct injection turbo engines run something like 11.5:1 IIRC on the Golf GTI...

This is what I'm saying. You were only pushing 405ft/lb of torque to the wheels and ran 11.50's @ 121mph. I would have loved to see what that 60-1 running 573ft/lb could run... especially after fixing the break up issue. It's kinda odd that he doesn't want to make a few passes to see the fruits of his labor. Unless of course his car will be strictly a dyno queen and never see a real track to back up any of the horsepower claims. Different strokes for different folks.

I think he made it clear that he's going to take off the CT26 60-1 turbo off and move on to bigger and better things. He gunning for 600+ rwhp. He's not going to the dragstrip.

Doesn't the direct injection help a lot though?
Oh, very much so. In fact, I dare say it probably wouldn't be possible without it, to run very much boost pressure at that high compression level. However, combine that with direct injection, and beautiful things happen. ;)

Not to burst your bubble (e85 is well enough documented as a decent performance fuel), but everything I was suggesting was on 91 octane. Granted, you could probably advance the timing or run a bit more boost using e85, but it isn't essential.

So, in conclusion to this thread we've got a few people backing up this dyno run with a sheet to show it. We also have several people who've run upgraded CT's on higher compression and put down around 25% LESS torque but have dyno/track times to back it up.

Something is picking at my brain with this thread..:stickpoke

Nice power, but aren't dyno packs (dynapacks?) the ones where you bolt them to the hubs? If so, you have to take into account a bit of loss due to the weight of the wheels and tires you're running...

Either way, get her running right and see what she lays down! :)

Yes, the dyno at our shop reads that way. When people see our numbers most of them don't like it. But its with the weight of their wheels and tires is what most of them don't understand.

So the weight of the wheels and tires are taken into account then? Seems easy enough to do, with a scale near by...

Something don't seem right there, punching your numbers for speed and weight into a 1/4 ET calculator it comes back with 563hp. Or if you put your weight and power it comes back with 108 trap speed.
