Umm, so my car now exhibits codes 42 and 43, WTF? In a possibly unrelated situation, it is now hard to start in the morning, and gets horrible gas milage. BTW, its an 88, turbo 5 speed, almost completely stock, any help is appreciated.

VSS and starter...
Starter signal goes from ig switch to clutch switch then branches to both ecu and starter, if it started, then the problem is under the glove box.
Vss comes from the gauge cluster, through a harness to harness connector under the glovebox to the ecu.
Try pulling the fuse to reset the cades and let us know what happens.

Neither should effect gas mileage. 43 could cause the hard start, not 100% sure though as that's a rare code to see.
