The added reinforcement for the targa version is not the equivalent of 4 football players sitting in the car.
Targa reinforcement adds 86lbs.

eh im throughing in a gte thats why i was going to just do tue head gasket for now on this engine but yeah I just got a cherry picker today the motor and tranny coming out soon and will see from therePrism11;1953270 said:
Do it soon then, cause that coolant will just eat the bearings, even if you've drained the oil. That stuff will make it's way through the whole motor. Just keep an ear open for rod knock.
I have completely taken the motor and transmission out now, ive decided to just wait and get the new motor instead of changing the gaskets, reasons the pistons need replaced and that means block would have to be bored, it would take more than $700 to fix up(for 700 I could just get a running 7mge)

Been a while and a lot has changed on plans. 1jz swap will be happening hopefully here soon since I have 1 more quarter of welding and tax return is going to be nice.
Still planning on doing my 1jz swap but for now I just picked up a 7mgte! Cant wait to get her in my mk3!

I'm putting a 1J in my car because that's what my "grand vision" of it calls for, but I gotta admit I like it a lot when people build mean 7Ms like duane did or mibrum's drag car. There is way too much hate out there for 7Ms and they really don't deserve it. From what I've seen they are lot more durable than, say, a typical bmw I6, once they have a MLS headgasket.

I know I am going against what I said but the objective for the car has changed and with the 1jz's rev capability it is what I need
I just got my clutch. Flywheel resurfacing tomorrow and will be putting the engine and transmission in this weekend
