I have a jz engine but this should apply to the 7m as well.

I just got my 1jz swap done a few thousand miles ago. When the car was first running, it was perfect... besides a misfire problem I fixed, but that's another story.

No smoke at all, either in full boost or decellerating.

Then I started to get some bluish white smoke on decelleration which pointed to either the valve stem seals or turbo seals going bad. I have a friend that had his 1jz swap done at the exacpt same time as me, and he also developed the same bluish white smoking.

Well, I took out the synthetic oil and now I'm running Valvoline max life high mileage dino oil. This oil has extra additives for conditioning seals and cleaning the engine.

Very slowly I'm noticing less white smoke with the new oil. The seal conditioner seems to be working.

My theory is that these engines just sit too long in japan, and the seals start to harden and the synthetics just don't help the situation, infact make it worse because these engines may have used dino oil all it's life.

Anyhow... just thought I'd put this out there, may help some poeple.

I personally like the Motul 300V competition 15w50... I have noticed right away a difference from what i have used. Castrol 5w50.. the car would warm up faster(but never overheat) that the Castrol. Though i have didn't have that problem (smoking) untill i got rid of my cat...Don't ask why i had a cat:aigo: . then it would only smoke at idle. but when i had a load it would go away..

Cool, I used 20-50.

They say it takes around 4000 miles to fully recondition the seals...

You can also try http://www.auto-rx.com/index.html but must be used to dino oil.

Some people however use it with rotella synthetic which is compatable with auto-rx
damn it... if only i didn't have oil leaks.... i think the oil seals on my ct are pretty bad... (from jdm motor) but i put new valve stem oil seals in w/ this in mind (engine sitting forever)

Interesting, I have some smoke.. I dont know if its from my week old turbo, or if its from my motor. This may be worth looking into for me.
