You mean because he started so late?

It's because of the regulations. He has to start a certain amount of time later than the supra, because his car has more power. They want to make it more interesting for the audience.

They call that kinda racing Bracket racing when the cars have to run there best time and if the drivers are very good it will be decided by a thousand of a second...basically a reaction time race...
