Megasquirt on a 1JZ/2JZ with Stock ignitor Discussion

Hey guys,
Well, over the last year i have been messing with the 1jz and a Megasquirt. I finally gave up a few months ago and switched to a EMS 6860. Well, i just found out something very helpful for future 1jz MS people. The stock ignitor will not talk to the MS straight across because it requires a 7V signal. This is very big. I cannot tell you how many hours were spent trying to get this to function. The MS only goes upto 5V stock, so something will be required to change the voltange going out or you will need to use a different Ignitor system. Multiple guys have said they got it running on stock but then we found out they didnt. I just wanted to add this info up. Good luck Megasquirtin.

toss the ignitor and buy coil drivers. cost around 30 dollors. You get them the same time you get the megasquirt, just need to add them to your order.

Yup,
I already got them. But i have talked to atleast 10 people that think they can get the stock ignitor to function. That is why made this post. I just wanted to help out the community. You are the guy who has a 1jz on a MS 2, right? I have been talking to another friend about you.

I had a 1jz, now I'm 2jz with ms1 and with a 1jz stock ignitor... Just need to remplace coil because the 1jz ignitor isn't able to drive 2 coils at the same time... So with 7m coils pack (drive 2 spark plug at the same time) it's ok or GM twin tower. and 7m coils pack fit under the cover between valve cover on 2jz with 7m wires and on a 1jz you need to put the thrid coil pack behind the engine with a bracket and nobody can know that you don't have stock coils pack.

I made 400 whp with my 1j and having no firing problem, same thing for my 2j...

you could drive the stock ignitor with 6 spark outs from ms1, no need to add 7m stuff on wasted spark.

if you want to have 3 extra input/output use 7m coils and you'll be able to add other things...

I think they basically are the exact same, but so much cheaper. 8 bucks is seriously highway robbery, in my perception. Well, good luck!

dammit glen's garage don't have the boost control items for the MS2

after postage the most I can save is $13

reckon glens garage could order the other stuff in?

I have no experience with Microsquirt. So i cant tell you. Sorry.
I personally use a AVC-R for boost controlling. So i havent used that one that was shown. The unassembled kits are cool, it will take a while to put together.

yeah i love assembling those kits though.

i used to buy the little robots and cameras as a kid and put them together and all sorts of other random things.

this will actually be useful lolz.

When i have it done, definately, but i havent finished. The damn ignitor issue stopped me months ago and i have just been really busy since then. If my buddy and i get back on it, then i will send it. I am running MS2 with a 3.57 board.
