I recently installed a maft pro that I bought followed the directions and set it up for speed density. So here is my problem I turn the key on maft pro powers up, car turns over it spits and spudders and tries to fire, then dies. I can smell alot of fuel so I think I'm flooding the engine out. I have it setup properly I believe. Yesterday it did the same thing but never tried to fire, today its trying to fire but isn't able to run. Any help or idea's would be greatly apperciated. I have an 89 turbo.

Posting up your settings would help a lot. Download the current bin into TunerPro and then export the settings to a text file. Just select "Export Data to Text File" from the "File" menu.

OR upload a copy of the bin itself.

Did you do any other work at the same time you installed the Maftpro that could have affected timing? (belt replacement, cam position sensor, etc)

Also, what size injectors are you running, and which VE Table are you using?

550's and I'm using VE table 1. Nope didn't touch a thing. But I'm pretty sure I may have screwed up the wiring portion have been talking to the person I bought it from and he has been very helpfull with trouble shooting.

Just about rewired everything, fixed my TPS signal was almost 5v now is .5v. Still when I turn the car over I have no RPM's on my Maft or tach in the car. So I believe I was reading on here and saw something someone posted about if you have no rpm signal and the tach in the car isn't moving you don't have spark. Correct me if I'm wrong but that is the igniter or the CPS job to send the signal to where it finally goes to the ECU. Right?

Finally have my car running had a bad connection on the IGT wire not allowing the car to start, makes sense. Well here is what doesn't the car will start and run with the white wire from the 10 pin connector disconnected. As soon as I touch it or twist the wire together and try starting the car, there is nothing. Car won't start. Here are both the diagrams I went off of for wiring up the pro.89-92 7mgte-ECU terminals.jpg

Oh... I hate that diagram.

Are you sure you don't just have a break in the wire? Did you wire the car up for timing monitoring? Did you disconnect the resistor which needs to be disconnected to use timing monitoring?

Which one, the white one running from the pro or the IGT wire? I have them twisted together so I can visually see them all touching. When I remove the white wire the car runs, while the car is idling I can touch the IGT wires with the white and the car dies. No I don't have it setup for timing monitoring. Isn't the yellow wire from the pro goto G2 or something like that for timing monitoring.

Yeah, R7 would need to be disconnected for timing monitoring. Unless you're running a GM MAF it shouldn't make a different, but I wanted to be sure no one was messing around with the board and possibly pulled the wrong resistor.

BTW, timing monitoring does NOT work if you are running a GM MAF!

Are either of you throwing any error codes?

Have either of you verified that the Prescaler jumper is in the right position? It's the only jumper inside the box. IIRC, it should be in the OFF position when you're not using timing monitoring, but I could be wrong.

Adjuster, which wiring diagram did you use?

Getting ahead of yourself, aren't ya?

tisk, tisk...

Personally, I'd undo all the extras and focus on getting the system running reliably first.

If you're not so inclined then post up your settings, in your own thread. We don't know that this guy's problem is related. cml61386, did you try to wire everything up for timing control?

Adjuster, I'm guessing that perhaps you've got values programmed in in the spark maps and they're putting your timing way too far off.

I'll check to make sure the spark values are all zeros. (Stock.)

Why would I be getting too far ahead of myself? Why not start with the latest version of the software possible, and go from there?

do you got vehicle selct to two? here my text for ptt...i just set it up today because my closed look went way lean on idle...and it still idles at like 16:1 but might help you get it running

Well I'm thinking I have found my problem thank you to dumbo. Something simple that I over looked and being a newbie at this. Spark WOT

RPM
2000 2500 3000 3500 4000 4500 5000 5500 6000 6500 7000 7500 8000

Spark Aux

RPM
2000 2500 3000 3500 4000 4500 5000 5500 6000 6500 7000 7500 8000

I'm sure that is going to cause me all sorts of problems. Well I looked at dumbo's that he posted set all of them to zero except 7 to 8000 rpm's, hooked up my rpm wire the white one which is pin 8 and the car attempted to fire and spit and spudder but my battery and jump pack couldn't get the car fired up. Damn cold weather, but beside all that I think I figured the problem out.

good luck, yah i got timing conrol hooked up, but i'm pretty sure it isn't enabled but i still set them to '0' i just gotta ge my Part Throttle Tracking figured out, and why i need so much damn fuel at idle. well actually i gotta get lots of stuff figured out, but its very driveable, good luck again

Finally have an rpm signal and its all thanks to boltz! He told me to hook the white pin 8 wire from the pro to IG- which is located for easy use right next to the battery at that DIAG. block. ran a jumper wire from there to my white wire on my pro and car fired right up without much hesistation. Here is my log.View attachment rpm signal.adl
