Engine was running really well and a very quiet valvetrain, only issue was the smoke on start up which i decided to address. We replaced the valve stem seals using the rope trick, installed BC springs, steel retainers, billet keepers and 264 cams. The valve lash was to spec, then we proceeded to install everything and immediately on start up the ticking noise began.
Baffled by this noise i decided to remove the cams and reinstall the stock cams just to very it had something to do with the valve lash, so after we installed the stock cams back the noise is still there.
The ticking gets louder and faster with rpm and does not get quieter when unplugging coils one by one. Listening with a stethoscope noise is coming from head intake side mainly #1 cylinder, all the other valves and block were quiet compared to cyl #1.
Any ideas or suggestions would greatly help.. Thanks
