Just finished my fully custom exhaust for my NA. All i did was get 5 ft of strait 2.5" from the local shop along with a couple flanges and then got a 180 degree bend from summit and cut and weld, lots of little cuts and trial and error. Then got some steel rod from the hardware store, put it in the vice, heated it up and bent it for the 2 hangers on the pipe itself. I like how it came out, the muffler is a little loud for my likeing but its not too bad unless youre pinning it. Enjoy! BTW this is a vibrant muffler, comes painted flat black.
Also made a test pipe

hm, best sounding mufflers in order from loudest to quietest

burns stainless <quite loud
magnaflow or rs*r < still loud
tanabe < fairly quiet

just my oppinion tho :-/

also, a note on the magnaflow... I used to have an exhaust w/ just one magnaflow muffler, no res., no cats. It sounded damn good, but made my interior fall apart... so I suppose the car would need to be matted.

But you said you didn't like loud, and you don't like ricey tin can exhausts...

Your best bet would be to get a tanabe exhaust, and paint it flat black, again, just an oppinion.

see if you can't find some videos w/ sound on youtube or streetfire???
