LED Tacho needle?

I recall seeing this a while back on an MKIV, but I couldn't find the video.
But what would I have to do to get this to work on an MKIII Dash?

I'd love to do that to my needles with red. My gauge faces are about bright enough, but my needles are way too dim compared to stock.

I may have to get off my ass and do that sometime...

Simple, buy a shift light and wire it in to switch the LED color. This will double the LED's used, or if the colors suit you, they make multicolor LED's.

There is a kit for your needles. I don't know about changing colors when RPM is at "give the high sign". Here is a picture of glow needle kit. Easy installation.

you'll need a diode...

power to white lights <|-----|> + normal power always
ground from lights <|diode|> - ground
power to red lights <|-----|> + wire that usually goes to a led shift light

this is a crude example...but pretty much: the diode does the job of the IF this, then do this job. any regular time, normal power will be used to make your dash white, but when the shift light component sends power to the LED...instead of lighting a single LED - the diode switches the power to the red lights.
