Its a pretty good price but the auto would stray me away if i didn't have a R154 laying around because the getrag is a little pricey along with a tt swap.

bah =( yea..its just the other day this dark green 96 auto came in..and it looked and sounded so sweett...purred like a kitting. auto NA...was still badass...meh ill prolly pass on it...gonna hope one day a grandma drives in with a supra and decides she wants to sell me her 97 Mk4 6 speed TT with 56,000 miles that she only drives to the market once a week since she bought it new in 97, for 5grand in hopes to buy herself a civic..

yea i dont really want a NA...but i just love the mk4 SOOO MUCH haha...i really wanna get an unmolested 97 TT supra...i have the funds for a decent one but that would leave me completely penny-less...so i dont think thats the right route..maybe in 4 years when i kick off my career ill drop 35 grand to get a CLEAN CLEAN CLEAN one..unless i come up on a sweet "grandma" type deal

It's a bit high for an auto targa. It it were a 5-spd hardtop I'd jump on it. Since it's an auto, I'd negotiate it down a bit.

With that said, it appears to be in VERY good shape. Nice looking car.

Are hardtops worth more because they are rare?

The hardtops are lighter and the chassis is more rigid, this tends to be a good platform for a road course car. But yes, the hardtops are far more rare. The turbo hardtops are absolutely rare. (Only about 300 total sold in the US over all MKIV model years.) There's a site hosted on this server dedicated to the MKIV Hardtop:

I host it, Steve Theodore (SF admin) runs the site itself.
