Is a Greddy BCC a safe alternative?

I regret selling my Stealth ECU now, thinking I was going to jump right into a standalone but have reservations now. Is a Greddy BCC a safe way to prevent boost cut or is it a bad idea using stock a stock ECU with it? Ive read that the GCC is better than the FCD since it does not alter the core signal when under normal boost levels. But my concern is when you do overboost, will the altered signal throw off the A/F to a dangerous level? Im not talking super high boost levels, but to be able to set boost levels up to 15-16 psi on stock twins without hitting fuel/boost cut very early on in the RPM range.

Also, if the BCC is safe, which model to get? The 90-95 Turbo MR2 model?

TIA
