Intercooler

Has anybody tried or thought about using a water to air intercooler?. I here they are more efficient than air to air. I know they are a more complicated setup but it would be interesting see how it would work.

ive thought about it, but air to water intercoolers cost more, and are used in small engine bays or mid/rear engine cars where the frontmout air to air wont fit. i though about it but decided against it.
