Yeah, line up the marks. If you want ignition time, get a timing light, and line up those marks in diagnostic mode.

i took off the head to clean it and check for a bhg but it waz all good so i put it back together and and line the arrow up i kinda spun the lower pully dose the throw the timing off ??

If the timing belt is installed it all moves together so it doesn't matter. Without just line everything up TDC and get the belt on.

If you spun the pulley when the head was off or the timing belt was off of the cam gears, then yea, it's off. You'll need to rotate the crank to where the #1 piston is at it's very highest point (TDC) and then reset the cams per the TSRM proceedure, THEN you can put your belt back on and do the igition timing next.

2ways that i know of i personally like #1 .....
1) open the oil cap and look down to see where the cam lobe is pointing and you want it to be pointing up.
2) remove the spark plug for the #1 cyl and put a long screw driver in it and you want the screw driver to be all the way UP

Line the mark on the crank up with the indicator on the timing cover plate.

Or take the #1 spark plug out and watch the piston come to TDC.

2) Wooden Chopstick is safer

If he has the front covers off there's a TDC mark on the inner case and on the lower timing pully.

I timed mine using the crank pulley lined up with the marks, then lined the cams up, then found the thread where it says how to line the cps up for TDC.

when I went to smog I was 1 degree off. probably when I was tighting the cps down I moved it. but shit still good if your not building a hot rod.

You need to take the timing belt off, then begin re-timing the motor to TDC for #1 piston per the TSRM specs, then you can put the belt back on.

BTW, you only need to take the belt off of the cam gears, not all the way back off ;).
