OK MVAC techs, i have a few quick questions. I am converting over to r134a, and i pulled the compressor, drained the oil into a cup, but it was only like a tablespoon at the very most if that, seems like not very much.

1) How much oil goes in the AC compressor?

2) How much oil goes in the reciever drier?

3) Do new reciever drier assemblies come with oil in them already?

I went through the TSRM to no avail, and also searched the forums, found nothing.

Thanks

The TSRM does have the oil spec's, but it's for mineral oil and R-12. This site, www.cygnusx1.net/supra/techtip/R134a.html ,has a good bit of info on the conversion, but doesn't deal with ester oil. I could be wrong, but after reading what I could find, I put 2 ounces of ester oil in my compressor (in the port shown in the TSRM) and 2 ounces in the out port of the new receiver dryer. I did not put any oil in with the R134a refrigerant charge.
