i was searching but didnt find an answer... but is there any way to tell if a car is originally a 5 spd or a auto? i know you can tell if the car is turbo or na from the vin does it work the same way for the tranny? thanks alot

i checked carfax doesnt show me anything either

The VIN should tell you, but it MAY change with the year of the car. Check the Cygnus X1 website for the TSRM. I believe you will find a page which decodes the VIN in the first few pages.

you can check the rear end gear ratio, it was different for manual and auto trans

In the engine bay, on the fire wall is a tag with all your vehicles info. It will say R-154, W58 or whatever the auto trans is.

Bzzzzz...wrong! The tranny had nothing to do with it.

Turbo cars for a given year had the same LSD (and ratio). The NA cars were different (open diff and higher ratio), but could come with an LSD if equipped with the sport package.
