Or maybe it's because they didn't want a motor where you have to take the crank pulley, accessories and timing belt off, take the cams and valvetrain assembly out of the head, take the head off and get it decked, buy a new upgraded/aftermarket headgasket, and reinstall head with ARP hardware to hold the 230 or so horsepower it came with from the factory reliably. If you can even really ever use the word "reliably" when talking about a turbo 7M.

So.. Im in the process of embarking on a new Journey Towards the 1jzgte record. Not planning on a stock internals record, but an overall Most power from a 2.5l block, no 1.5jz bs. I will Be Starting a Build Thread Soon. Here Is The Basic Rundown. .020 Cp 9:1,Tomei H Beams, Camtech 290' Cams, 1mm os valves, and havent decided on turbo yet. I was Kinda Leaning on an S374 But still undecided. All through a Built R154 with a spec p trim twin disc.(I would also like to see highest hp through an r154) Shooting for +/-1000rwhp and upwards of 9k Rpm. So Has anyone actually seen a 2.5 block in the quad digit Hp Range?(I Cant Come up with anything)

R154 will be the limiting factor not the 1j block. Block is strong and solid. R154 is iffy after 700 ft lb and a time bomb after 800.

V160 would be better. And with a 3.58 rear end ratio would make it perfect for high reving and a closer ratio of a gears to go through.

Jostar, the tuner that made 906 on that 1J is my tuner. He's a genuine guy and I can vouch for him.

It had a custom BW 71mm with a 125 shot and a R33 rear end. The dyno was known to read high however. He since has moved shops and now has a brand new Dynojet. Now that I think it, I remember reading on SF somewhere that Smiley back in the day made just over 1000HP on a stock block.

Smiley never made 1000HP on stock block, I believe he blew ALOT of motors as he is OLD SKOOL on tech...

To answer your question regarding TUNER.. I never mentioned the TUNER.. I asked the owner alot of questions & never got a clear answer..

DYNOS can be manipulated to give you high numbers.. I personally can tell you the MUSTANG dyno at SP reads ALOT lower than a DYNOJET,
Trap speeds & other dynos have proven their numbers..

Now, I did not bended rods at 601HP, I made that at low boost and got KRAZY so I went from 20 to 29 PSI on my GT4276 and the power came on
real nice but lost traction!! so the pull got aborted, placed a guy on the hatch for traction control purposes & on the next pull! I lost alot of power...

While analysing the data we notice that the oil pressure was at 7psi at idle...

we shut the motor then turned it on & heard the KNOCK KNOCK!! We were done with the car..

I was on my way to destroyed the BOOST alone record..

NO nitrous here lol

One more thing, the car is on PRO EFI & it was my fault for taking out the OIL failsafe & not turning it on..

Just to update & HOLY revival of old thread..

In Puerto Rico they have the highest 1JZGTE that I seen so far, 1001HP & has ran a 9.16 @ 156mph in a MKIII!!!!

I will try and get the owner to come in here & join us, not sure if he is a member but I highly doubt it.
