First: I know there is not a 'High flow FPD'

What I want to know; Is this a sound way to get more flow and keep the functionality of the FPD?

What about retaining the FPD and just drilling holes in the threaded shaft to feed the rail before the dampner. That way it still functions as a dampner but no longer restricts fuel flow.

No, just modify the FPD so that the shank acts as a typical banjo bolt with the FPD up top. It would still function as an accumulator, just not a restriction...

I kept the FPD in place but I drilled out the banjo fitting to allow more ...

I come from a land down under
Can't think of a factory EFI car that doesn't have one.

Just looking at the TRSM and yep it say's no FPD on a GE, very odd that mine had one, my car was a virgin when I got it so it hadn't been swapped in.
