I'm fairly new to Toyotas. A few months ago I bought a 91' Cressida. The PO swapped in a 7mgte, r154 and LSD from an MKIII. The motor is pre 89'. Here's my issue it has the Cressida wiring harness, distributor, AFM, and O2 sensor. The first thing I did after I got it home was install an AEM WB. Immediately noticed it was always lean under load/boost. Since I've installed a 255lph FP, Adjustable FPR, SAFC-2 and even an old school FMU. I can not got the afr's down . Help . I think this thing may have the GE injectors in it too. Would these have that hard of a time with stockish boost (8psi)? I cant get it below 13.5/1 AFR tip in goes 17ish for a few then falls to 13's. Could this AFM be doing it? Help / suggestions greatly appreciated. Also the CEL has never come on. I'm not that naive Witch ECU pin controls the CEL?

Thx Craig.

Bad AFM can cause the AFR's to go haywire but usually they go rich instead of lean. also i would think even 13 to 1 is bad safe is 11.5.

7MGTE and a distributor?

Get some pictures up of how the bay looks.

Test the resistance of the injectors. They should be low impedance if they are turbo injectors, high if they are NA injectors.

Here is the page for the specs:

Incorrect early na injectors(86.5-88) are also low impedance...89+ are high. If I remember correct though all NA injectors are yellow and all turbo injectors are dark green

720cc injectors installed. Running rich now. SAFC can get me close. So I won an HKS VPC on E-bay will this work with my GE electronics? I'd really like to keep the GE electronics because the sensors are cheaper and I like the distributor and the freedom of upgrading that goes with it. I know DIS is "better" but .......

Good point lol. It runs great with the additional fuel for sure -32% at 1000 rpm lol. I can tell low speed is gonna be hardest to nail down. What ne points do you guys setup on the safc for these motors? Also throttle point?

When i was running a Apexi S-afc i had throttle settings 74% Low and 75% high because of the VF signal you do not want to touch the low throttle map setting.

NE points should be set to your needs but a good starting point would be.
Also i found in between changing the high throttle map drive for about 2-3mins to let the ecu adjust

11.5 AFR across the board was always my target i was also using a AFM though.

1. 2500
2. 3500
3. 4000
4. 4500
5. 5000
6. 5500
7. 6000

Haven't been on for a bit. The car is running pretty good . The VPC wouldn't work with the 7mgte rom because of the different AFM's . I'm looking at map ecu now . I may have found one on the cheap . ohh yea I fixed the AC.
