when i got the car the battery kept going dead, so i replaced it, havent had a problem for a while, then lately the car starts no prob, but if i drive it for while and shut it off like i did today while shopping the darn thing wont start. the battery is at full charge and the lights and radio always work, it just clicks when i turn the key. the tach gauge moves ever so slightly, but only like 50rpm or something maybe less when i try it. luckily i was parked in a back parkinglot that was flat instead of on busy main street and had room to push the car and hop in quick then pop the clutch. i had to do this a couple times before when it wouldn't start and am kinda getting sick of it even tho it does start every time doing this. any ideas what the problem could be or where to start? im wondering if maybe my starter is going or soemthing, but not sure. it seems to only happen if the car is fully warmed up and only once in a great while.

Check your grounds, My turbo timer has been giving me crap lately. If I take off the system completely, and plug ignition harness to ignition harness, I have no trouble at all

If not the turbo timer situation Kyle suggested, it may be your contacts on your starter, I had this problem as well with mine. I took it off and apart only to find out that I had two different sizes of contacts in there! Pwned! Starter rebuild kits are like 20 bucks or something through toyota, comes with new contacts and a couple other things I can't remember

kinda makes sense, actually, the ground isnt grounded right now, i took my amp and sub out and the ground is just hanging back there because i ran it to the distribution block back there.
geez i hope thats it. i wonder why the turbo timer works fine tho?
thanks sure would be a nice easy fix :)

nope, that wasnt it, i thought it wasnt grounded, but it is, and has been, otherwise the cd player wouldnt be working. I'll have to tear into it a little more tomorrow. hopefully i'll have some more ideas from you guys by then so i can check them all at once.

after i got back i parked the car in the garage and tried and tried to start the car with no luck. the battery is fine, i messed with the ground wires on the boost controller, ground on the battery, every ground i could find i took off and scratched the metal under it a little and put back on, still no starting. I just went out a min ago and it started right up. I'm wondering if heat or condensation might be causing it i dunno. right now it seems like it only happens when the car is fully warmed up. if it is the starter, does that mean i should drive the car around till it wont start again, then hurry and take the starter out and bring it to autozone for testing or would they still find something wrong with it even when cold? its sooo nice out and i wanna drive it, but need to figure what this damn thing is first.
any other ideas?
how do i check my ignition?

maybe I would have found out what was wrong by now, but it looks like its gonna be a pain in the a** to get that starter out. i found a writeup on how to remove it and it says to unbolt the front crossmember. I'm trying to find someone closeby with a supra that might be able to help just in case i screw something up. havent had any luck yet. ne1 from appleton, madison, milwaukee area in wi?
