Helmet + paint question

I've got an SA 2005 rated helmet I use for autocross, and I was wondering if anyone knows if getting it custom airbrushed will damage it or not. I want to get it painted but if its going to make the helmet unsafe then theres no way I'll get it done.

i do custom paint, as long as the painter uses a compatible paint it will not effect it. all automotive and airbrush paints are compatible with fiberglass helmets. carbon fiber helmets require a low voc paint such as a waterbased paint for the contact layer(first two coats)
