I wanna say it comes from the slang word Hella, popular in the bay area of northern california which can mean "very" or equal to "absolutely" (where a lot of these cars can be found). In the sense of a car itself, aggressive or very aggressive stance achieved with low offset wheels, tire stretching, negative camber blah blah blah, making the wheels sit flush with the body of the car.

or simply explained in the first few seconds of this video:

I"m so disappointed that I came so late. I didn't now the magnitude of people that attend Hellaflush events. If 2 parking lots had to be shut down there must've been at least a few hundred cars there. Next time!

BTW,

That's tyte! I like the Yaris. Fixed up, they could look good. MPG + looking good = very nice! I hope to see it in the stature below at the next CA Hellaflush.

yeah wouldve been sick to see ntorios in person. lots and lots of cars, plus regular beach goers filling up the lot as well.

and yeah you usually dont see fitted yaris sedans, thought that was a shame.

what time did you get there?

Wheels flush with fender's edge?

HELLA

Hella, per the urban dictionary: Originated from the streets of San Francisco in the Hunters Point neighborhood. It is commonly used in place of "really" or "very" when describing something.

Shaef, what you described is just "flush"

"Hella Flush" is when the edge of the wheel, not the tire, is past the fender's edge.

other than looks...is there a point to being hellaflush? because it looks far from anything very functional and when you race a car like that...the sidewalls rub. I saw an article on a car that rubs so much it CHARRED the PAINT on the fender!

I don't get it. Is looks simply the end? It seems like the ultimate in impracticality...

Why didn't you bring the poopra? I've always loved the hellaflush meets, cars are so clean and well done.

BTW, I watched that video then found this one from the same guy. Bunch of shots of a Dark Blue 89+ Supra Drifting, looks really clean too.
