There might be a thread on this somewhere, but I could not find it

I bought my 92 N/A about a month ago and I am wanting to tighten the head bolts on it just to be sure, there is nothing wrong with the motor or driveability (yet) and I need to know if removing the valve covers will gain access to the head bolts or what do I need to do in order to access them.
Also is there a specific torque spec on these bolts??

well, don't rip on it because it drives strong and no issues, but it has 252,000 miles on the odometer and I have no information on the history of this car up until the point I bought it about a month ago.
It seems like a major undertaking to change the HG, I may wait if I can get away with it...

Yes you do need to remove the valve covers to access them and most people say you should torque them down between 65-80ish depending on who you talk to :)

PLus how many miles on the engine? IF a lot of miles i would say change the head gasket so you don't mess anything up in the future

I believe the commonly recommended value is 72ft/lbs on stock head bolts.
